Last night at about midnight on Nuttall Road between Trill and Norwich
there was an assault and robbery. I heard the commotion from my bedroom and
raced out to investigate. Four men were in the process robbing a man in
front of my house. As I approach from my front door calling out "what are
you up to", one of the perpetrators started racing towards me saying that
was going to kill me. I then made a quick retreat into my house not knowing
whether he actually had a weapon. Once I noticed the man didn't come past
my gate I started yelling back to cause distraction, a few seconds after
they fled. The victim then gave chase and didn't come back.
*Being that the street light in front my house was broken, I could not see
whether weapons were involved nor the faces of the perpetrators and victim*.
It was only this morning after seeing police parked in my street that I
realised the victim was one of my neighbours.
>From what I have understood from the victims initial description to the
police (ie - not a statement) - The robbery started as he was alone opening
his front door, two men started to accost him, he attempted to run away by
scaling his front wall but then was cornered by two extra men who were
waiting on the street. He was assaulted (black eye) and all possessions
were taken. After giving chase the victim saw the 4 men get into a car
with no number plates. The type of vehicle not confirmed - possibly a
hatchback, maybe a Honda Civic.
The men all appeared to be African, medium build and reasonably well
dressed in the baseball cap, homey style.
The street light on front of our place has been out for about two or three
weeks, ironically since the council replaced the telegraph pole.
And during this time I had been procrastinating to report it. Naturally I'm
feeling very regretful now.
