All**** ** ** My car was broken into on 23/11 between 6 – 9 pm. when parked in Station Rd for the evening. (Ironically, right next to the OBCID offices entrance! ) Thief/s managed to disable the alarm of my Citigolf. I am told it is the easiest thing to do by crawling under the car and ripping off the earth wire that is exposed. (One of the weak spots of the VW’s) The tow-truck driver checked the wire and indeed that was the case. Thief/s then using a screw driver lifted the lock on the passenger door. Easy.**** ** ** CD/radio combination ripped out of the dashboard. My camerabag and gym bag that was locked in the boot was also taken. The camera equipment is the big loss. Worth at least R30 000. I will later post a description of the camera body, two lenses and flashgun that was in the bag. **** ** ** Unbelievable how brazen thieves get in in very busy street with lots of foot traffic all the time and patrols by neighbourhood watch. I must have been watched.**** ** ** Who knows, someone might advertise my camera online, e.g.Gumtree, and I might get lucky like the guy whose R100 000 mountain bike was stolen and advertised on Gumtree. The owner saw the ad and managed to retrieve the bike.**** ** ** PS. Is there a way that I can view the video footage of the Cyclops camera t the corner of Station and Lower- Main Rd. It might have picked up something up the road.
