I know it seems out of the way, but I popped into the Ladies Mile depot on my way out to surf on the peninsula the other day, and it was a wonderful experience -- they are very organised, and it took me all of 2 minutes to drop off a full load of mixed recycling, no mess, no fuss. They are open on Saturdays and Sundays (9 - 14h00, I believe?). Compared to feeding bottles into a container one by one, being frustrated because drop-off points are inaccessible and/or overflowing, etc., this was the best recycling experience I've had.
I may even consider cancelling my contract with Abundance, because they often collect so late in the day that the wind and the wanderers have already attacked the bag and made a mess. If you routinely travel on the blue route towards Constantia, Muizenberg, Ou Kaapse Weg, etc., then it would be painless to drop off a load of recycling every now and again.
