While we were leaving the helipad entrance to Newlands Forest at about 11 yesterday morning, about 6 police vans with sirens blaring and lights flashing sped along the M3 towards the city, presumably in pursuit of another vehicle. Nothing particularly unusual, except that there was a 'sniper' in a helmet and bullet-proof vest and holding a machine gun at the ready hanging out of the passenger window! I've scoured today's newspapers and websites to fgure out what this was all about - to no avail. Does anyone know?
