interesting article

I can certainly confirm that having a dog in the house helps a lot. Since I
started keeping my dogs inside during the day I have had no incidences
inside my house - but this obviously frees up the crims to steal stuff from
the back yard which has happened one or twice - including copper piping. I
guess having two dogs one in and one out woudl be ideal or providing and
entry/exit point for a dog so it can cover both inside and outside.

I had one incident where there was some fishing - when me and the dog were
house sitting someone elses house. My dog does a good job and climbs out
the open window on to the sill between the window and burglar bars to greet
people coming to my front door.

Take care out there
