I forward the incident below of a mugging in Polo Road on 15 January 2015 as was received today from Ollie. James
RE My mugging: I was locking up my neighbors house on the 15th of January 2015 at 0605 - 0610 AM after feeding her cats, and started walking towards my car inorder to go to work. Two colored males (also in their mid twenties i recon) accosted me and demanded my cell phone. The one guy was armed with a screwdriver. I put up a slight fight and kicked and elbowed a bit but they got me down to the ground and fished my wallet and cell out of my pocket. All the while i was screaming blue murder and residents started coming out of their houses, mostly in Polo rd. The unarmed guy punched me in the side of the head and they ran off fast. I jogged to the corner of Polo where they had run to, inorder to see where they were going, and see if possibly there was someone i could alert. The guys ran roughly two blocks down polo towards lower main rd, and jumped into a waiting VW VR6, black or Dark blue / green in color, partial number plates CA 296 _ _ _. I explained to the residents in Polo what had happened and they told me the #47 had just been broken into 15mins before. I believe the guys were leaving the break in at 47 when they saw me locking up, and decided to try their luck further. My neighbors (#11 Cook) called the SAPS and the Obs security company. 20minutes later after i had cancelled my bank cards neither SAPS nor security had arrived so i drove to woodstock SAPS and filed a report. CAS 333/ 1/ 2105. Post incident it occured to me that it is absolutely daft that the Security company changes shift at the same time as SAPS! Surely the shift change period leaves all areas open to crime for 20 - 30 minutes?
