Similar to the incident reported in Fairfield Rd on Friday, on the
Hartleyvale side of the railway there have been a number of break-ins in
the early hours of the morning while the residents were home.

   - On Thursday 15th October there was a break-in at 4 Lynton Rd, opposite
the railway station, at 4:30am. The residents were locked in the bathroom.
Apparently the neighbouring house had been burgled that week.
   - On Sunday 18th October there was an attempted break-in at a house in
Strubens Rd near Lower Wrensch, around 3am, again while the residents were
home. The intruders were extremely aggressive and persistent, breaking
through gates and shutter, despite the residents fighting them off and
shouting that the police were coming.
   - Break-in at 1a/b Perth Rd on Thursday 22nd October.
   - There's been other evidence of other attempted break-ins during the
night: damaged burglar bars at a property in Lower Wrensch, a broken
trellis and footprints at a property in Low Street, etc.

Obviously this is a scary turn in the criminals' tactics. I'm sure
Constable Berry is working on catching these guys, assuming it's just one
group. But would it be possible to ask SAPS to deploy extra vehicles in our
area for a month or two, especially at night?
