Hi All,

There have been major developments at the Woodstock CPF (the mother body,
not the Obs subforum).

The Woodstock Police have been ordered by Pretoria to reconstitute the CPF
because it was not done properly last time. The public meeting to do this
is taking place on 30 March.

The current chair, Moosa Sydow from Walmer Estate, has announced that he is
resigning.

This is a huge opportunity for Observatory to take ownership of the most
important crime fighting tool that it has at its disposal. It may not be
the most effective agency, but SAPS is by far the most important, if only
because it has the full power of the law behind it. A small improvement at
the Woodstock SAPS can do many multiples more to improve the crime
situation in Observatory than three improvement districts. (I'm not saying
that the Obsid is unimportant).

Observatory needs to mobilise and populate the CPF. After all, we are the
most crime-ridden sector in the precinct. There is very little to no
interest from the Woodstock, Salt River, Walmer Estate and University
Estate communities to get involved.

If anyone knows anyone who might be interested (think neighbours who have
recently been hit by crime, or anyone who might be vaguely community
minded) please put them in touch with me or Barrie Terblanche (our CPF
Subforum Chair)

Thanks and regards,
--
