Yes, you can still have individual ORACLE_HOME on each node using OCFS2.  Check out their official documentation at oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2, you can follow the user guide to setup your cluster before installing Oracle software.

Subject: [Ocfs2-users] Oracle 9i R2 RAC with OCFS2

Dear OCFS2 Users,

I am trying to set up a 4-Node RAC cluster and the file system we want to go with
is OCFS2. The nodes are IBM e-Series servers and the OS is RH AS 4.3. I could not find much documentation on Metalink or Oracle about the procedures to follow for setting up shared ORACLE_HOME.

I have previously implemented OCFS1 with 9i R2 ( 9.2.0.6) on RH ES 3.0, so the  Oracle install was done on all the nodes.

I request you to share any experience, notes and documents that can help me in uderstanding the nuances of setting up Oracle RAC ( 9206 ) using shared home on RH AS 4.3.

Can we still set up individual homes using OCFS2 even though it supports shared oracle home ?

I would really appreciate if you can respond to me at the earliest.

Thank You,

Madhukar
