Database Consultant The job holder provides senior-level consulting on complex and highly critical database issues. S/he develops data architectures and database management policies and standards for use within the organization. S/he participates in database strategic planning and consulting on selection, design, development and integration of multi-platform, distributed databases. S/he monitors industry trends and vendor experiences and stays abreast of technological advances. A need has been identified to augment existing staff supporting the Private Wealth Management applications in the Oracle database space. This need is for an individual that will function both strategically and tactically to help the customer with the technical aspects of the database management system that supports their business and applications. The need is for an experienced database architect with strong skills in administering Oracle databases in Unix environments. Experience with Oracle 10g or higher is a required. The incumbent will be responsible for optimizing Application Performance, Business Recovery and Disaster Recovery Scenarios, Environment Maintenance, Proactive Monitoring and Performance/Tuning activities. The incumbent must have strong technical, analytical and communication skills as s/he will be interacting directly with the line-of-business support teams. Minimum 6 - 8 years experience required. Job holder must have previously implemented strategies for database architecture and consulted on migrating, integrating and selecting platforms for a variety of wide-impact applications. S/he must have expertise in the major functions of relational database platforms and the design, development and maintenance of relational databases that manage object data including multiple Object-Relational Database Management System technologies, platforms and products. Must also have significant experience with designing and integrating complex, heterogeneous databases. Job holder must be knowledgeable in performance considerations for complex, distributed environments and aware of industry benchmarks for multiple technology environments.
