Oracle/UNIX Database Administrator Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination or education, training and experience. Exercise five or more years experience as an Infrastructure Oracle DBA with UNIX administration experience. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination, or education, training and experience. Typically possesses nine or more years of experience in the field performing complex analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations. Must have five or more years experience as an Infrastructure Oracle DBA with UNIX administration experience. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Oracle technology architecture. Demonstrated experience building and supporting Oracle database infrastructures in a large-scale, corporate enterprise level environment. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis of problems and provide solutions. Demonstrated experience in hot/cold backup mechanisms, as well as mid tier architectures. Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle Support processes for technical requests with Metalink. Demonstrate the experience to document policies and procedures as well as process improvement methodologies. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to customers business needs. Must demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor a team. Must demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in. Must demonstrate the ability to coordinate with multiple development teams and multiple software vendors on issues, resolution, and planning. Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions. Able to take initiative and maintain accountability for achieving results. Typical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will proactively monitor server health and performance using state-of-the-art tools and technology to ensure high availability and reliability of the DB application environment. Typical responsibilities will include: designing and implementing all database security to ensure integrity and consistency among the various database regions; implementing and overseeing all database code deployments and changes to the database environment to ensure proper change management processes are adhered to and documented; providing expertise on installation, configuration and support, of Oracle 8, 9i, 10g & 11i; seeking pro-active management of production database systems, and risks mitigation; providing expertise in performance monitoring, instance tuning, SQL tuning, and patch management; documenting policies and procedures as well as process improvement methodologies; providing future direction and guidance on application deployment/support plans; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Due to the 24X7 company operation, this position is required to be on-call weekdays, weekends, and nights on a rotating basis with other team members to support production.
