Database Admin ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Assists in the development of detailed data models in consultation with clients and staff. - Works closely with technical and client management to design and implement databases and database support tools to support complex business application development requirements and processes. - Monitors, tunes and maintains development, testing and production databases. - Creates, maintains, and monitors backup and recovery systems, distributed data systems, user permissions and archiving systems. - Participates in the analysis and resolution of issues related to information content, data integrity, integration, and database performance with clients and other data processing staff. - Assists with the development of standards and procedures affecting data and process modeling and documentation, and data base design, maintenance, and management. - Assists in the development of the corporate data architecture and related data architecture standards and conventions. - Works closely with data architects and senior level data administrators on the design and implementation of databases. - Serves as team lead on small to medium projects. - Performs other duties as required. JOB SPECIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. - Previous (3-5 years) related database administration experience including data/process analysis, backup and recovery, and SQL programming. - Previous experience working in a UNIX and/or Windows environment, as well as, operating system specific scripting and execution. - Knowledge of the causes and remedies of performance issues in a database from a SQL coding perspective. - Strong understanding of database systems design and development and its relationship to the needs of the business. - Knowledge of data and process analysis and database development technologies and tools. - Excellent consultative and communication skills. - Demonstrated analytical ability and judgment. - Ability to work effectively with clients and other technical staff. **The three major job requirements include: Database Administration – including Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase and DB2, general maintenance, performance tuning, SQL programming, backup and recovery, and analysis and resolution of issues Operating system environments – Unix and Windows, operating system specific scripting and execution General – excellent communication skills, analytical ability, and ability to work effectively with clients, data processing managers and staff Thank you, DBA FYI Center http://dba.fyicenter.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OCP_DBA" group.
