Position: Windows/Linux Administrator Location: Lakewood, CO Duration: 3+ Months Job Description: The role of this Senior-level System Administrator/Server Architect is to participate with a technical team to consolidate out-dated servers in use at State Government facility. This includes use of virtualization technologies. Targeted servers to consolidate are application servers, database servers, fileservers, print servers, web servers. Additional skills would enable candidate to assist with other planned tasks in the area of implementing server and performance monitoring tools, participating in the deployment of standard server builds. The chosen candidate will be one of five in a technical team working multiple tasks and will be expected to perform all required duties including documentation, assisting in the preparation of contract deliverables, following a project schedule, working directly with government client. Required Skills: · Must understand best practices in data conversion in complex environment including multiple source systems (mainframe) and SQL server target systems · Need someone that can work well with other teams and staff and has proven track record in getting it done in an organized, best practice approach · Candidate should be adept at analysis, design, planning, and oversight of all conversion activities · Skilled in data cleansing and translation approaches is important, ideally past experience utilizing ETL tools including MS SISS highly desired · Other skills include: strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, strong problem solving, ability to mentor technical staff Required Experience: a.. Highly experienced in the System Administration of Active Directory, DNS Infrastructure,Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, Exchange 5.5, Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007, Red Hat Linux, Secure FTP Tumbleweed, MS SQL Server, VMWare ESX Server 2.5, 3.0, Microsoft IIS Server b.. Recent experience installing, configuring and maintaining HP Proliant Servers, HP Blade Severs, Dell and HP desktops and laptops, Hitachi and HP SAN technologies. c.. Very comfortable with a variety of scripting tools including Perl scripting, VB scripting. d.. Highly experienced in file permissions within Windows NT and Windows Active Directory and how consolidation efforts can affect Windows permissions e.. Practical knowledge in all aspects of network fundamentals that covers use of Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco routers and switches, IPSec VPN's VLAN's, and Wireless. f.. Recent history setting up and implementing performance and system monitoring tools, MOM. g.. Recent experience in the use of server and desktop deployment tool, Altiris. h.. Recent experience in the deployment of CommVault Backup solution. i.. Excellent and proven troubleshooting skills that follow a systematic approach to isolating and solving difficult technical problems. Required Training: a.. 4 year degree or minimum of 8 years of technical and progressive experience in the field of IT. b.. An additional 5 years of direct experience as a server/systems administrator for a mid-sized company. c.. Formal training in system development lifecycle is highly preferred. d..
