SQL Server Database Engineer Position Summary: The Database Engineer will use their SQL Server expertise to help create and maintain database schemas, design, development, integration and deployment of database objects and codes necessary to support out business and applications. The Database Engineer works closely with and supports as necessary, Operations, Product Management, Application Engineers, QA and Configuration Management through all phases of a development and release cycle. Key Accountabilities: • Works closely with development teams and is responsible for physical database design and implementation performance tuning. • Implements design vision, including physical implementation of data schemas on SQL Server. • SSIS on both SQL 2005 & 2008. • Reviews and develops stored procedures using T-SQL under SQL Server. • Structured management of schema and stored procedure deployment. • Performs code and design reviews. • Contributes to optimization, tuning, replication, distribution and normalization of the architectures. • Problem Solving: Analyzes problems and generates alternative solutions quickly and accurately. Can sort through complexities and distinguish unimportant or irrelevant issues from key components. • Corporate Stewardship: Understands the impact of decisions and takes actions in the best interest of the company. Keeps the bottom line in mind while delivering high quality products; understands the mechanics of how a business works; is knowledgeable about policies, practices and trends; knows the competition. • Customer Orientation: Acts with the customer in mind.
