Associate Database Administrator The primary responsibility of the Database Team is support and maintenance associated with the companys core & proprietary patient medication reference application. This application is mission critical and therefore requires appropriate overnight monitoring and maintenance. The application currently has an aggressive release cycle and the database team participates in all production releases. A successful Associate Database Administrator (DBA) will be able to monitor the application, give consistent reports of the state of the databases that support the applications utilized, monitor log shipping and transactional replication, provide over night support, and provide suggestions for performance improvement of all database operations. Environment – Scope · The environment supports a three-phased life- cycle: development, testing and production · The monitoring tools used for mission critical servers are from Idera Diagnostic Manager, Compliance Manager and Defrag Manager. · Quest software Lite Speed for SQL Server is used for backups and log shipping · The DBTeam works closely with the system administration, technical support and software development teams on a daily basis · Written and verbal reports of database status to management on periodic basis Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Creating primary database objects (tables, views, indexes, etc.) as required by developers or packaged application vendors · Monitor and maintain log shipping (or other method) for disaster recovery readiness. · Monitor and maintain Transactional Replication process · Monitoring user access to databases · Monitoring and optimizing the performance of databases. Provide regular reports of the state of the database environment. · Implementing, and documenting processes for backup and recover of databases · Support other databases/applications as and when required. · Assist with ad hoc query requests, including performance tuning · Coordinate and communicate production schedules within IT/Development team. · Participate in the regular on-call rotation, providing off hour support · Work on Special Projects as Required Experience and Skills: Qualifications: · Ability to juggle multiple projects · He/She will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills to work in a multi-task, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. · He/She will demonstrate the ability to interact with multiple levels of personnel within the organization and externally.
