Database Administrator I

* As a Database Administrator I, you will be hands-on to support
production databases in daily or emergency procedures to resolve
issues. * Assist in the efforts of installing and maintaining database
management software. * You will work collaboratively with other
members of the Data Technologies team as well as software development
to help implement the physical data model. * Help develop and validate
the database implementation plan. * Create database objects and
maintain their physical organization/relationships. * Support the data
loads into the databases. * Ensure that the applications, and any
enhancements, interact efficiently with the database. * Create/
Implement database maintenance plan to ensure data integrity. Manage
the on-site backup and recovery process and/or support the off-site
backup and recovery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, configure and maintain databases . 2. Manage Fault
Detection, Performance Tuning & optimization of database environments;
Specific technical areas include transaction databases, schedule jobs,
archives and replication components. 3. Administer operational
procedures (SOP) for all database related activities, such as database
(MS SQL Server, Oracle) installations, system startup and shutdown
procedures, procedures for verification of correct system operation,
database relocations, backups, recoveries, etc. 4. Work as part of a
project team to coordinate database development. 5. Review process
maps or application workflow charts to understand tasks applications
will perform, such as updating records. 6. Administer and ensure daily
backups and archive processes from the transaction databases systems.
7. Assist in development of disaster recovery strategies and plans
including backup plans, recovery procedures and periodic DR drills. 8.
Review, Test, Validate and Deployment of database changes, SQL or
stored procedures. 9. Implement production changes to production and
test database; ensure a strict adherence to separation of production,
test and development environment. 10. Assist in the design,
implementation and maintenance of data replication.

Required Skills

* B.S. in computer science or 5 years equivalent technology experience
* Minimum 2 year of work experience as a database administrator. *
Minimum 1 year of experience with one or more of the following
database software packages i.e. Oracle 9i & 10g, SQL 2000 & 2005,
mySQL 4 & 5 with experience of other relational databases a plus *
Solid skills in database performance factors, monitoring tools and
tuning procedures * Strong database management skills, including
replication, backup and recovery procedures * Knowledge of fault
detection and resolution processes. * Strong skills in maintenance
tools and procedures; Experience supporting a 24/7 environment with on-
call rotation. * Ability to communicate clearly in person, on the
telephone and via email * Knowledge of Oracle eBusiness (Financials,
HRIM, and Procurement), Sugar CRM, J2EE and LAMP development
experience a plus. * Stored procedure knowledge, T/SQL, PL/SQL
knowledge a plus.
