I think it would help you to run Ubuntu under Virtualbox:
http://www.virtualbox.org
This way you can at least rule out platform issues.
Anyway, I ran into a similar problem while I was working on the code
under Ubuntu. It seems that the ocroscript-'layer' catches all
segfaults and so on, making it hard to debug the actual code.
