dear Tom, I greatly appreciate all the work you are doing on Ocropus and helping the rest of us to use your product. I was trying to use the training methods you mention in the Usage section using the lines data, however the training takes a long time to complete.
Can you tell me what is the average time for it to complete on recent hardware ? That is just some benchmark for different types of hardware. Are there any specific hardware settings that you would recommend for using Ocropus. Finally, I am very interested about your Decapod project, do you plan to open-source it as Ocropus?. I really want to be able to try to use it for deskewing pictures for my project. Also would like to see Icelandic characters in the default model, they are only around 10 (áéíóúýþæöð) and in latin1. with best regards, Snorri Siemsen On Jun 13, 3:30 pm, Thomas Breuel <[email protected]> wrote: > > What's the difference between the training in 0.4 release and the training > > of HMM-based method? > > From the user's point, very little: you can train on unsegmented data > once you have a reasonable initial model. > > > Does the recognizer in 0.4 need to segment the text line before classifying > > the character image? > > Internally, the line recognizer generates explicit segmentation > candidates.
