Thanks for offering to help. Scanning, correction, training, bug reports, and documentation will be very important contributions to OCRopus.
We're currently trying to smooth some of the rough edges for training and write up more documentation on how to do training. Over the next few months (by the time 0.5 comes out), we hope to have the process streamlined enough for people to contribute without the need for much programming experience.
