I'm not sure what you mean.  hOCR contains column information, how you
display that is up to you.  You can basically choose any kind of
display by adding a little JavaScript and CSS.  Common display formats
are running text (no columns visible), reflowed columns, or absolute
positioning.

In a sense, hOCR is probably the best supported OCR output format
because it's just HTML; you can manipulate and transform it with any
major scripting language and the DOM, and you can style it with CSS.

There are some hOCR-to-PDF tools, and we'll be adding another hOCR
tool as well.
