If you had installed ubuntu 12.04(64bit) normal way (not in virtual box), I can help you since I am familiar with 12.04(64bit)-installed thro' wubi.exe in Winxp(sp3). I succeeded to install ocropus 0.6 successfully in ubuntu 12.04(64bit). With best Wishes, -sriranga(79yrs)
