"i7tiol" (which I believe to be Olaf Till) just released a new version  
of the "parallel" package using
md5 checksum and uuenconding, as everything went fine and was very  
efficient for me to handle, I went on
and updated the docs on <http://octave.sourceforge.net/ 
developers.html> to make this the recommended procedure.
