Hi,

A new version of the io package (1.0.14) has been uploaded to the
package release forum (BTW I saw 4 other packages hanging there).

io-1.0.14 now depends on octave-3.4.0+
All io functions that were moved into core octave-3.4.0 have been
dropped (csvread/-write, dlmread/-write, textread).
Of course there are several bug fixes and enhancements. Oh and perhaps
new bugs :-)

As to ODS (OpenOffice.org and siblings) support:

- odfdom v 0.8.6 (ODF Toolkit) is still preferred (the odfdom API
changed again in 0.8.7, so future io-1.0.15 will have support for that
and who knows, for odfdom-0.8.8+ too).

- As to jOpenDocument, version 1.2 (final) is preferred (it is faster
than ODF Toolkit but not quite as versatile).

- I tried to increase the .ods row limit to 1048576 as LibreOffice 3.3.1
supports that ("ODS 1.2 extended"), but the current odfdom and
jopendocument class libs do not support this (yet?) :-(
So .ods is currently stuck at max 65536 rows.

No texinfo documentation yet, only html - still looking for a good html
=> texi converter.

Philip
