Hi everyone,

some e-mails to the mailing list reporting bugs (and some with patches
or suggested changes), seem to never have a response. I myself have a
couple of such e-mails, marked as unread, for when I have the time to
do something about them. I feel that these bugs will just be lost,
which is even worse for the ones that come with a patch attached.

I believe that this could be better managed if users reported them on
the octave-forge bug tracker, which we do have at
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=2888&atid=102888 . If this
was to be used, I see 3 things that could be done:
1 - the bugs octave-forge page (
http://octave.sourceforge.net/bugs.html ) would have to be changed so
as to instruct users to use the bug tracker rather than the mailing
list.
2 - configure the bug tracker to send an e-mail to the mailing list
when a bug is reported or changed
3 - configure the bug tracker to allow anonymous submissions. I think
not having to create an e-mail is a big advantage of reporting bugs by
e-mail. As such, it would be nice to also have on the instructions to
report bugs, that creating an account is optional.

This probably won't get bugs fixed faster but hopefully they won't be
lost. I'm in no way, trying to say that we should be fixing these
bugs, just trying to come up with a way to not lose these reports and
patches. Really hope that no one takes offense to it,
