I am new to Octave. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 and Octave 3.2.4 and I
installed octave-financial package.

>From financial package there is a rate() function. This is what I get:

octave:25> rate(30, 510.19, 10000)
error: error creating function handle "@pv (x, 30, 510.19, 0, "e") - 10000"
error: called from:
error:   /usr/share/octave/3.2.4/m/optimization/fsolve.m at line 138, column 9
error:   /usr/share/octave/packages/3.2/financial-0.3.2/rate.m at line
69, column 5

I tested pmt(), pv() and nper() without errors. The values are:

pmt = 510.19
pv = 10000
nper = 30
rate = 0.03 (3%)

Is it reproducible?

Cheers.

Júlio
