Both your octave and control package versions are *very* outdated. The current octave version is 3.4.3 (with 3.6.0 on the way). The current control package is 2.2.1. It requires at least octave 3.4.0 to run properly. The control 2.x.y series are a complete rewrite and have almost nothing in common with 1.0.11.
