I've used Octave for digital image processing in the field of optics for a
private company. They also used it to analyze satellite data.
I also use it on personal Artificial Intelligence projects, implementing
genetic algorithms and neural networks.
I know that INPE, a brazillian meteorological institute, uses Octave for
data processing tasks in a few laboratories.
