One thing to note (it was mentioned in passing by Carlo earlier in the
thread) is that, in spite of the subject, the file to look for is
vrml-1.0.14.tar.gz .

Propagation to the mirrors isn't _that_ slow.  I've typically been able
to upload files and have them available for download in a few minutes.
The non-appearance of the tarball on the files webpage seems to be
unconnected.

Using "http://downloads.sourceforge.net/octave/vrml-1.0.14.tar.gz"; as
the download URL should automatically redirect to a mirror that contains
the file:  that's what I used on a recent download of that particular
tarball.
