I can confirm that the above compiles and runs fine on my installed
octave-3.6.2/VS2010 setup. As Carlo says, I would check how you actually
compile the code. From your description, it seems you're not using
mkoctfile to compile the code, so you might end up using incompatible
compilation flags.
For instance, I'd pay special care to the runtime DLL you're linking with.
Make sure to use the flags "-MD -EHsc".
