I have asked the MinGW people whether they will accept the package---all we can do now is wait. I hope they will accept it but it's worth pointing out that they've declined other GNU package offerings before, and even the offer of the MinGW-w64 people to combine the two projects. Anyway, is this Nitzan person, that you have mentioned, still active and can (s)he be contacted?
