This is odd. Did you try turning on DEBUG logging for org.apache.ode? There are a couple of debug messages in the ExternalService class that should give you a better idea of what's happening.

The version I wanted to send looks like: <sequence> <receive name="start" partnerLink="helloPartnerLink" portType="test:HelloPortType" operation="hello" variable="myVar" createInstance="yes"/> <assign name="1"> <copy> <from variable="myVar" part="TestPart"/> <to variable="myVar2" part="TestPart"/> </copy> </assign> <invoke name="invoke" partnerLink="helloPartnerLink2" portType="test2:helloWorld" operation="hello" inputVariable="myVar2" outputVariable="myVar3"> </invoke> <assign name="2"> <copy> <from variable="myVar3" part="return"/> <to variable="myVar" part="TestPart"/> </copy> </assign> <reply name="end" partnerLink="helloPartnerLink" portType="test:HelloPortType" operation="hello" variable="myVar"> </reply> </sequence> So the issue you mentioned should be solved already. Anyway, the error occurs while processing the invoke, if I skip that (and the 2nd assign ofc) the process works. Nevertheless I still believe that it's my fault, but I'm unable to figure it out. So any help would be appreciated. regards, Jan
