Hi Koen,
thank you for your answer; I've changegraded to the recommended
versions. Other minor problems I could solve with the help/information
of the sanity checker (a very helpful thing - my thanks/congratulations
to its inventor(s)) ...
However - I run out of luck during my "bitbake nano":

Well - I've to confess it was quite late when I arrived there, &
therefore did not investigate the problem properly yet (consulting news
archive & google) ... but I'll do so.
As I've seen the wiki now also reflects the required & incompatible
monotone versions.
