Like I said, you ignore your own rules, or adjust them to suit your
needs.

I never said I had any plans to orphan packages and you know it.

I said I didn't have the time to do duplicate work just because the SCM
I'm forced to use doesn't appear to support merging between branches in
a useful way.

Pasting the corresponding log entries here since logs are publicly
available via ibot.rikers.org anyway.

13:54 < hrw> reenoo: do you have plans to sync .oz354fam083 changes
to .dev?
13:55 < reenoo> hrw: no concrete plans, no
14:05 < mickeyl> reenoo: i hope "no concrete" plans is the answer
because you want to focus on getting a release out. It'd be a bit sad if
you would no longer care about .dev - essentially we had a fork then.
14:06 < reenoo> mickeyl: we have a fork already. two of them even
14:06 < mickeyl> reenoo: no we don't. there are differences between a
fork and branches
14:07 < reenoo> mickeyl: well. in SCM terms branches are something you
can merge stuff back and forth between. monotone doesn't appear to
support that
14:09 < mickeyl> reenoo: right, but please don't use the SCM
incapability as an excuse. it looks like others are managing to keep
divergence at a minimum.
14:10 < reenoo> mickeyl: I'm not using it as an excuse. it's the exact
reason why my stuff is in .oz354fam083 only
14:10 < reenoo> mickeyl: doing that type of thing manually is doing the
same work twice basically which is not going to happen with my schedule
in mind

Done.
