I added a bit of sed hackery a long time ago to fix just such a problem. Looks
like it was removed, though.
Try adding this to the beginning of do_stage() in the pcre bbfile:
sed -i 's:-L\$:-L${STAGING_LIBDIR} -L\$:' ${S}/*libtool
