I am interested in using ipkg, and I am not/less interested in using the full openembedded framework. I have the following thoughts/questions about the features/capabilities of ipkg, in isolation from openembedded: I would like the ability to run ipkg on my desktop computer and have it install packages to a memory card, which I would then insert in the device. The big issue appears to be with scripts (pre-install/post-install/etc) It may be useful for some packages to have scripts that would only be useful when run _on_ the device itself. One way of dealing with this issue would be to have a way to distinguish scripts that could be run on the computer from scripts that need to be run on the device itself. It seems to me that pre-install scripts would have to be runnable on the computer in this scenario. Has anyone thought about or worked on any of these issues?
