Just in case anyone was wondering, sound on Akita at the very least is still
broken. I'm not sure if this is a GPE-specific problem or something common to
all 2.6-kernel machines, but none of the volume adjustments in individual
applications (such as glurp or gmpc, both are frontends for mpd) work. The
exceptions are alsamixer and gpe-mixer. However, even when these work, the
volume only seems to scale from 100% down to 80% or so - beyond 80%, the volume
appears to be at zero.
