Summary: Very large power draw during suspend
Product: apm
Version: 3.2.2-r3
Platform: Compaq iPAQ H54xx
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: apm
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I dont know if the problem has to do with apm but sounds likely.
The problem is as follows:
Ipaq h5450 with wlan-firmware updated to newest version, running Opie 0.84rc2
Whenever the device is set into suspend, it continiues drawing large current
from battery (about 100mA, which completely drains battery within 10 hours) and
completely deep-discharges the battery resulting in the Ipaq being unable to
start until being charged for a long time and reset several times.
Current during normal operation with backlight off is about 120mA, ao it looks
like it just blanks the display but otherwise continiues running. The according
option under "Power" is disabled, so it should normally suspend.Cheching this
option results in the same current drain.
Normal suspend current draw would be more like below 10mA.
Also sometimes the wlan activity light stays on during suspend if wlan is not
turned off before suspending.Same seems to apply to charging light when it was
connected to charger before suspend but then disconnected.
Also it takes around 35-45s to wake up from suspend which sounds like a lot to
me.
Its a major issue because normal use is not possible without having it charging
all night.
