Problem: seems to be a gcc issue, but no info found on that :-/
Suggested solutions:
1. [tested] remove SQUASHFS support by commenting CONFIG_SQUASHFS=m and
CONFIG_SQUASHFS_FRAGMENT_CACHE_SIZE=3 in the
packages/linux/linux-openzaurus-2.6.16/defconfig-<your_machine> file
2. [tested] if you really want squashfs, you might try the patch provided below
