I can't reproduce that. It builds fine here without having built libusb before.
The resulting ipkg file shows:
Depends: update-rc.d, libglib-2.0-0 (>= 2.8.4), libopenobex1 (>= 1.2),
libbluetooth1 (>= 2.25), libc6 (>= 2.4)
Besides, since -lusb is not present in the client at all, it looks like
openobex drags this dependency in. So it looks like a bug rather in openobex.
