Summary: hostap modules broken for WPA on collie image
Product: Openembedded
Version: OpenZaurus 3.5.4.x
Platform: ARM
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: Distributions
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Installing a WCF12 Wireless Card from Linksys works normally with orinoco_cs
(orinoco_cs has no WPA support).
Configuring the use of hostap_cs modules from the opie/collie image causes
strange behaviors. Installed hostap modules are from package
hostap-modules-2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix (0.4.7-r4).
After the modules being up, any command that scans the interfaces like ifconfig
or iwconfig terminate with 'segmentation fault' when trying to show wlan0 or
wifi0:
--
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
irda0 no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.
usbd0 no wireless extensions.
irda1 no wireless extensions.
Segmentation fault
--
The terminal does not return after that and not even kill -9 can terminate the
'iwconfig' running on this shell.
The same happens with any direct command to configure the wlan0 interface.
dmesg and klogd start repeating this message:
--
wifi0: LinkStatus=6 (Association failed)
wifi0: LinkStatus: BSSID=44:44:44:44:44:44

hostap modules from the gpe/collie (hostap-modules-2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix
0.3.9-r7) image works correctly with no "Segmentation Fault"s but don't have
WPA support enabled.
WPA support it's stated on the 3.5.4 release notes to be working on all images.
expected behavior: hostap-modules-2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix (0.4.7-r4) should
work correclty and permit it's use with wpa_supplicant, wpa and tkip.
