strace is your friend.
On a second thought, my building experiences weren't that unclouded.
While building qemu-native, I was getting a complaints that strip
wasn't found. It *was* there, and I tried to replace it with symlink
to main system's strip, copy it there, etc. All of no evail - strace
showed ENOENT for it. Well, I did that step manually, and got over it.
I'm running my builds under coLinux, so I can always just think that's
emulator's bug, but taking your case into account, that reminds a
pattern.
2 OE folks: were there reports like these before? Any suggestions
(except for stopping using outdated stuff, of course ;-) )? Thanks.
I've gotten the same problem lately. I removed the -s from the install
commands in qemu's Makefile and that allowed it to finish.
