Additionally, you could simply tag the conversion pattern like so:
log4j.appender.file.layout.ConversionPattern=<div class=%p>%d (%t)
[%24F:%-3L:%-5p]%x %m </div>%n
and create css based on the log type
.DEBUG{
color:grey;}
.WARN{
color:blue;
font-weight:bold;}
.INFO{
color:green;}
.ERROR{
color:red;
font-weight:bold;
border: 2px solid red;}
who knew logging could be so fun ;)
