Ajay,Ofbiz has changed a lot to provide the best technologies to develop the more stable,robust and secure solutions and eassy to maintain since it started.Each technologies are introduced after the long and pretty good discussion on the mailing list.So offcourse those technologies are very good to go ahead for stable solution.Initially ofbiz Uses the Jsp,JPublish but due to some issues it is shifted to ftl & widgets.Although you can also use the old concept to use JSP instead ftl if you like. See for the database connectivity the Entity Engine that is written by David E.
