When editing an entity in webtools you cannot return a field to null

When editing an entity in webtools (Entity Data Maintenance -> View Value ->
Edit) it doesn't seem like you can return a field to null once it has been
assigned a value, I tried just clearing the field but it is restored after
clicking on update.
