Possibly the article was authored by the same person who wrote an article in
the NZ Herald a month ago , aadvising CS students to stop wasting their time
learning legacy subjects such as C++ and Pascal and instead learn HTML and
VB! From memory that person was a MB Consulting representitive.

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: Delphi 5 review by PC World - my experiences of
that magazine.

3 Years ago, PC World advised they would do a review of my video
conferencing hardware in combination of NetMeeting software. I sent them up
the plug and play video capture card with camera, and they couldnt get it
going. So I sent them a PC with it configured going, and they couldnt get it
running because they couldnt set up the PC to suit their own server. A very
simple matter of logons, and passwords is what I had to do for them,
something a schoolboy could handle.
After that, we had a real-time video conference between Waihi Beach and
Auckland using XTRA which was at 28k my end and pretty crappy lines (the
pictures were fairly good quality I thought) - the comments of the reviewer
were that it was OK, but it was not as clear as a video camera and as fast.
Imagine how hard it was to swallow that one especially after showing myself
running their own software on remote, by sharing, showing example program
sources I was working on, and cutting and pasting using the same software.
To give you my opinion of that reviewer would be blasphemous, but it is
scarey to know that they are being unleashed on good products which could be
given a ratshit review because they are a bunch back-patting idiots. The
review was never published, after all that buggering around, which seems
indicative of the magazine; only rarely are NZ products reviewed, and if
they are they are seldom given the recognition they deserve. PC World a
subsidiary of PC World US no doubt.
Thats my bitch for the week - hope it was constructive, back to the beer,
sans pizas.
