I thought I should warn you all about this particularly nasty problem - we've
struck it in a couple of customer sites in NZ.
Apparently Windows 98 shipped with buggy drivers for Realtek network
cards. The symptom shows up when you notice files being corrupted on your
server - extra bytes added, bytes missing etc.. You are pretty lucky if you
can spot this as it happens - we protect all our files with a 32bit CRC and
fortunately for us the problem showed up quite quickly. This is a disaster in
progress for many Windows 98 users.
