Xander
Thanks for the info.
I have forwarded this on to the 3Com retailer asking to exchange for a Nokia.
Would have been cheaper to pay the extra for the Nokia at the start, and saved on tech expenses over the past 3 weeks trying to get it going.
I found with NT that while it worked OK when you were connected, if you stopped the connection then when you re-started it, it would hang the machine.
Thanks again
Mark

Someone working with me also tried this modem and had the same problem. He eventually gave it back and purchased a Nokia instead, which works fine (couldn't get any help from where he bought it). I personally had similar problems, not actually getting it to work at all under Win98 and eventually settled for the 3Com OfficeConnect, which works but is far too expensive and too complex to configure :(    Getting 3Com assistance (as far as I could ascertain) in NZ was impossible (3Com 0800 was always engaged).

My advice, chuck the 3Com and get a Nokia (they just seem to work when plugged in). On the other hand, if you get the 3Com to work, please let us know.

Subject: [DUG-OFFTOPIC]: 3Com ADSL modem with Win2K

Hi all

Not sure if this is too offtopic or not.

Is anyone aware of any issues with a 3Com HomeConnect Dual Link ADSL modem running on Win2K?

The modem drops the connection 30 sec after last use, even though the timeout is set to 1 hour.

This does not happen when running NT4 on the same machine.
