Hi folks,
I promised an update on this when I got more info. Here's what I
know now about cable Internet via Saturn, particularly with respect
to Chch:

* Availability -- Wellington is a given of course, but Christchurch is
NOT. They intended to roll it out in April, encountered a technical
hitch, and now have no publicly-announced available date, though
July was mentioned awfully tentatively by one person. Call 0800
299300 as that time gets closer, or await a mail drop.

* Bandwidth -- 500Kbps (128Kpbs uplink) is their highest-bandwidth
announced plan, for about $79.95/month on current pricing,
including 1GB international traffic (10GB national, i.e.1 in 10 ratio).
There is also a 2Mbps "upgrade" to that plan, no pricing or easy-to-
find info on that however. These Wgt prices and bandwidths may
not apply as-is in Chch, who knows.

* A static IP address is included with every cable connection by
default

* A cable modem is priced into the Internet connections. The one
used in Wgt is a "COM21" mode, with no firewall features.

cheers,
peter
