Along with others over at on an Open Source editor project for *TeX writing
called TeXworks,

At present I help maintain documentation for the editor's Scripting API –
informally known as TwScript.

Till now it has been maintained with the very good HelpnDoc (written in
Delphi), which from a local WYSIWYG interface, can throw out a static website,
pdf, chm, docx, and even a version of an MD (MarkDown) dialect.

But there has been a minor discussion on the TeXworks list,
https://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/texworks
around finding a web based solution, so that rather than being produced from a
single local client interface (as I presently do), group contribution and
editing can take place.
I am keen to pursue that.
And discussion has turned to Yihui Xie's "bookdown" as a possible solution.
Through pandoc,
pdf doc html and other things are possible.

Yihui is a major contributor to R, and also releases a tiny TeX solution for
producing pdf etc for their documentation.

Before settling on https://bookdown.org I wanted to ask if anyone on the list
else has had experience with solutions to collaborative help file production,
and has any suggestions for a system and hosting environments please?
