Hi All,

This afternoon I was startled to find that Windows (98) Explorer was reporting that a folder was empty. I went looking for the files I expected to be in there using Norton Protected Recycle Bin Recovery, in case I'd accidentally erased the directory, but no files were reported as being erased.

To my relief I later found that the files were shown in Explorer's Large and Small Icon and also List view but not in Detailed view as I usually work with, needing to know File size and creation dates.

Rebooting the PC didn't fix the problem, nor did shutting it down completely and restoring it

My PC is protected with McAffee Antivirus, I also ran Ad-aware and cleaned out a whole heap of rogue files and started over all to no avail.

Please can somebody explain what might have happened and provide a fix.

Regards
